By Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works
129 energy efficiency projects for multi-family residential buildings in the coal regions of Stara Zagora, Pernik and Kyustendil have been approved. These are the results of the completed evaluation of the project proposals received for funding under the procedure “Support for sustainable energy renovation of multi-family residential buildings, including tackling energy poverty” under Priority 4 “Just Transition” of the Development of Regions Programme 2021-2027. A total of 329 project proposals from the 3 regions were submitted to the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works for a total amount of BGN 455.4 million. The proposals received from 24 municipalities in the most affected coal regions exceeded about 2 times the budget of the procedure - 196.4 million BGN, provided by the Fair Transition Fund and national co-financing.
With the provided EU grants 26 projects will be implemented in Kyustendil district. They will be financed with BGN 31.8 million. In Pernik district 38 blocks will be renovated with BGN 32.9 million. In Stara Zagora District and the 10 municipalities connected to the Maritsa Basin: Nova Zagora, Yambol, Simeonovgrad, Harmanli, Topolovgrad, Dimitrovgrad, Haskovo, Elhovo, Sliven and Tundzha, 65 projects worth BGN 127.8 million will be implemented.
The projects include measures to increase the energy efficiency of multi-family residential buildings and reduce energy poverty in the areas most affected by the climate transition. Once the energy saving measures are implemented, the buildings must achieve an energy consumption class of 'B' or higher, thus supporting the transition towards climate neutrality of the three regions.
The results of the evaluation of the submitted project proposals, a list of the project proposals proposed for funding, ranked in order of their ranking (by region), a list of the reserve project proposals that have successfully passed the evaluation but for which funding is not available, ranked in order of their ranking (by region), as well as a list of the project proposals proposed for rejection and the reason for their rejection, including project proposals rejected at the technical and financial evaluation stage, are published on the program's website, in the menu “Regional Development Program 2021-2027”, submenu Implementation; on the Unified Information Portal - www.eufunds.bg, as well as in the Information System for Management and Monitoring of EU Funds in Bulgaria (ISMM 2020), as well as on the website of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of the Republic of Bulgaria.
