INTERREG VІ-А IPA Bulgaria-Turkey 2021-2027

The INTERREG VI-A IPA Bulgaria - Turkey 2021-2027 programme is a cross-border cooperation programme financed by the European Union with funds under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III).

The general objective of the programme is to strengthen the territorial convergence of the cross-border region Bulgaria-Turkey by providing support for increasing the competitiveness of the local economy, digital and green transformation and expanding access and improving the quality of services of common interest, incl. reducing pollution and the negative effects of climate change, as well as supporting joint actions for institutional and operational cooperation to strengthen the good governance of migration in the cross-border area.

The programme area covers 3 regions on the Bulgarian side - Burgas, Yambol and Haskovo and 2 provinces on the Turkish side - Edirne and Kirklareli.

The total budget of the programme is EUR 34 415 251.

The programme will finance projects under three priorities: Environment Friendly Cross-Border Region, Integrated Development of the Cross-Border Region and Safer Cross-Border Region, which will implement a pre-defined project of strategic importance related to strengthening the capacity of law enforcement institutions on both sides of the border to tackle illegal migration in a spirit of cooperation and solidarity.

Beneficiaries can be micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, including those organized as cooperatives and social enterprises, local/regional authorities and regional structures of central public authorities, NGOs, academic, scientific, social and training institutions.

The Managing Authority of the Programme is the "Territorial Cooperation Management" Directorate in the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the National Authority is the Directorate for European Union Affairs, General Directorate "Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation", Republic of Turkey.
