A second group of Bulgarian engineers left for Albania

The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, with the assistance of the Chamber of Engineers in Investment Design – Sofia, has dispatched a new group of Bulgarian volunteer engineers to Albania.

The group donates its work, consists of seven people and will continue to assess the condition of the earthquake-damaged buildings in Tirana and Duras. These are Eng. Georgi Kordov, Eng. Rosen Rashkov, Eng. Tamer Ahmedov, Galina Ruleva, Eng. Bozhidar Lesnovski, Eng. Ivan Manoilov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Georgi Georgiev.

Th specialists will participate free of charge in the assessment of the structural stability of the buildings, the extent to which they are affected by the earthquakes, what is the damage to them and whether they are habitable. The assessment is made with the necessary specialised equipment, which is transported from Bulgaria.

The goal is that our country should help Albania overcome the consequences and restore its normal rhythm of life after the strong earthquake and subsequent aftershocks there, which caused serious damage at the end of last month and left many people homeless.

The Bulgarian civil engineers will work together with their colleagues from the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Italy, Hungary, Romania and Turkey.

This is the second group of our specialists who will check on site elements of various construction sites affected by the earthquakes. The first group was dispatched by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works at the beginning of the month, and included representatives of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and the Chamber of Engineers in Investment Design. A team of 12 people works in the country, including the Deputy Head of the Directorate for National Construction Control, Arch. Peter Duhlinski. The other specialists who contributed with their professional experience are: Prof. Dr. Eng. Bogomil Petrov, Prof. Dr. Eng. Petar Pavlov, Prof. Dr. Eng. Dimitar Kislyakov, Prof. Dr. Eng. Marina Traykova, Prof. Dr. Eng. Penyo Penev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Tsvetan Georgiev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Dilyan Blagov, Eng. Borislav Simonov, Georgi Stoyanov, Eng. Dimitar Kumanov, Dr. Eng. Teodor Todorov.
