The Council of Ministers approved the Methodology and Indicative Allocation of the funds from European Regional Development Fund for Transnational and Cross-border Cooperation Programmes for Bulgaria for the programming period 2021-2027. It is planned that Bulgaria will receive 133.6 million euros for the financing of the territorial cooperation programmes in which it will participate for the period 2021-2027. EUR 111.2 million will be allocated to Bulgaria's bilateral programmes with Romania, Greece, Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia and Turkey, as well as to the Black Sea Basin programme, and EUR 22.4 million to the budget of the transnational programmes Danube 2021-2027 and Interreg Euro Mediterranean area 2021-2027.

Demographic and territorial indicators, as well as the economic and social challenges faced by the regions, are taken into account in setting the budgets, with priority given to less developed territories.
