‘We can be proud of what we have achieved through the Territorial Cooperation Programmes because of both their effect on the cross-border regions and the partnerships we managed to establish.’ That was stated by Deputy Minister Denitsa Nikolova during the Conference European Territorial Cooperation in the Republic of Bulgaria - achievements lead to new perspectives. In the previous programming period Bulgaria took part in 11 Territorial Cooperation Programmes, said the Deputy Minister, explaining that 5 of them include Bulgaria’s neighbour countries and are related to the development of the border regions.
 
The budget of the Territorial Cooperation Programmes in the previous programming period totals approximately BGN 3,2 billion, as 672 contracts securing above BGN 1,1 billion were agreed, informed Denitsa Nikolova, presenting the achieved results in each programme.  
 
The Deputy Minister awarded 15 of the most successful projects, implemented in the previous programming period. She thanked all partners and beneficiaries of the programmes, wishing them successful collaborative work in the new programming period.
 
Three projects cofinanced under ‘Bulgaria-Serbia’ Cross-Border Cooperation Programme were awarded: ‘Amplification of criminal capacity related to prevention of organized drug trafficking’, ‘Establishment of Bulgarian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’ and "Youth master’s music workshop.’ 
 
The awarded projects of ‘Bulgaria-Macedonia’ Cross-Border Cooperation Programme are ‘Contribution to the protection of the cross-border region from fire’, ‘Bulgarian kid and Macedonian kid – hand-in-hand’ and ‘Rock and Pop borders’.
 
Financed through Bulgaria – Turkey Cross-Border Cooperation Programme were awarded the following projects: ‘Intertwining culture without boundaries between friends and neighbours’, ‘Cross-border cooperation for revitalization of archaeological heritage’ and ‘Cross-border cooperation against industrial accidents’. 
 
Two projects were rewarded on ‘Romania-Bulgaria’ Cross-Border Cooperation Programme – ‘Joint risk monitoring during critical situations in the Danube border region’ and ‘Improving the availability of Ruse - Giurgiu Euroregion with Pan-European Transport Corridor 9’.
The rewarded projects for ‘Greece - Bulgaria’ Cross-Border Cooperation Programme are ‘INTERSYC – a greater impact in the border region’ and ‘ARDAFORECAST - Creation of an early warning system for floods in Arda river basin to reduce the risk in the border region’.
 
The awarded project for ‘Southeast Europe’ Transnational Cooperation Programme is ‘RAIL4SEE – Railway cities of southeast Europe’ while for Black Sea Basin Programme the winning project is ‘Reefs - research and restoration of the main sea filters’.
 
Deputy Minister Denitsa Nikolova opened ‘History of the Territorial Cooperation Programmes in Republic of Bulgaria in 2007-2013 programming period in photographs’ exhibition during the conference.
 
Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works
