585 multi-family residential blocks in the country are being renovated to date with financing under Stage 1 of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) under the leadership of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW). All have to be completed by 30 June this year, and 51 have already been completed. The funds paid to municipalities are over 125 million euros. This was announced in Kazanlak by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Dora Yankova. It inspected the repair works carried out on four residential blocks, in which an on-the-spot check was launched by the teams of the Monitoring and Reporting Structure at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) to comply with the procedures and requirements of the RRP. A total of 18 residential buildings are renovated in the city under the program.

Yankova reminded that by Decree of the Council of Ministers 22/2026 the payments for 463 residential blocks were transferred to the Bulgarian Development Bank, 177 being the buildings from Stage 1 of the program. The deadline for their implementation is the end of 2029.

The Deputy Minister informed that 10 teams with experts from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works carry out on-the-spot checks in the settlements in order to control the implementation of the guidelines under the programme and the repairs carried out. "In March we have planned 50 inspections, and by the end of June the blocks in all municipalities will be inspected," Yankova said. "Our aim is to ensure that investments are delivered on time and in line with the guidelines of the Recovery and Resilience Plan," added the Deputy Regional Minister. She added that the program affects over 150,000 Bulgarian citizens.

Yankova noted that the program is among the most important investments in the housing sector, as it reduces household energy costs, increases the quality of life and improves the urban environment. She reminded that thanks to the efforts of the MRDPW team, the funds under the program were saved so that people could make the most of the funding.

Earlier Deputy Minister Yankova and her team held a working meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality of Kazanlak Galina Stoyanova, with which they discussed the implementation of the program. During the conversation were discussed the organization of the work between the institutions, the progress of the construction and repair activities, the necessary actions to meet the deadlines under the Recovery and Resilience Plan and to accelerate the implementation of the program.
