Under the Operational Programme "Regions in Growth" Sofia Municipality (SM) implements 13 projects with a grant of BGN 230 million. This is a significant resource that is spent both on improving the urban environment and urban mobility, for educational infrastructure, for social infrastructure.

"Sheltered housing is undoubtedly an initiative that we all strongly support in purely human terms," said Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works - Valentina Varbeva at a press conference on the launch of the project "Overhaul / reconstruction / of temporary accommodation center" St. Sofia” in the Ilinden region, funded by the Operational Program “Regions in Growth” 2014-2020.

The mayor of Ilinden region - Ivan Bozhilov, representatives of the General Directorate " Strategic Planning and Programs for Regional Development" at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and others also took part in it.

The project of Sofia Municipality has a total value of BGN 3,383,485.87, of which BGN 2,130,090 is self-financing.

"I am glad that he has made a significant contribution, because although only two floors of the building are used for social services, there is no way to prove energy efficiency and results of these measures if we have not completed the overhaul of the entire building." – said Minister Varbeva.

Deputy Minister Varbeva and the mayor of Ilinden region - Ivan Bozhilov made a symbolic first sod of the site. The Regional Deputy Minister wished success to the team, disciplined and hard work to complete the project on time.

The project must be completed by 04.01.2023. It includes major repairs and implementation of measures for energy efficiency of the building - laying external insulation on the walls, roof repairs, replacement of plumbing, as well as delivery and installation of equipment and furniture for common and service rooms.
