130 multi-family residential buildings will be renovated in Sofia Municipality with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan. 40 of the buildings will be renovated under Stage 1 of the Plan by the end of June 2026, while the rest are under the second stage. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Dora Yankova at a working meeting today with mayors and representatives of 14 district administrations in Sofia, who have signed contracts for energy efficiency. The purpose of the meeting was to clarify the progress of the implementation of the program in the largest municipality in Bulgaria, technical and administrative issues, problems in the implementation and compliance with the set schedules. "We have managed to save European funds for building renovation and save the national resource to put into a new energy efficiency programme. It is expected to start within two months," the deputy regional minister further told local government representatives. She urged the district mayors not to confuse the renovation programme under the RRP in the BDB and the second national energy efficiency programme, which will also be financed from the state budget. “In order to avoid chaos and confusion, precise structuring is being prepared,” said Dora Yankova.

“The Ministry and the mayors are in the same boat to implement the programme, and our goal is to bring the money to the people and change their quality of life. I am glad that in the 14 metropolitan districts you have strained the potential of the administrations and we will complete the construction within the set deadlines. People will remember you all their lives because you have changed their housing, the standard of living, so be among them, help them and answer their questions," Deputy Minister Yankova further commented.

The representatives of the local authorities thanked Deputy Minister Yankova and the team in the Ministry working on the procedure for the dialogue, good communication and open doors in solving the various cases.
