The Deputy Regional Minister started the renovation in Pazardzhik, where 15 multi-family residential buildings will be renovated

More than 1100 households in the city of Pazardzhik will have the opportunity to live in renovated and energy-efficient housing under the two stages of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. A total of 15 residential blocks will be renovated, in which more than BGN 28.5 million will be invested. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Dora Yankova. Together with the Mayor of the Municipality of Pazardzhik, Petar Kulenski, municipal councillors, experts, the contractor company and representatives of the supervisor, started the construction and installation works of a multi-family residential building on Panayot Volov Street, with 6 entrances and 160 households.

“Where there is collusion in the family, in a block of flats and in a city, there is progress. Things don't happen in places where there's division. Renovation will allow you to live in better conditions," said Deputy Minister Yankova. She stressed that the actual renovation of the residential blocks is already underway across the country, and under Stage I of the program the activities should be completed by the end of March next year. ‘A total of 24 residential buildings with nearly BGN 40 million are to be renovated throughout the region of Pazardzhik. In addition to the regional centre, there are approved buildings in the municipalities of Peshtera and Panagyurishte. More than 1,500 households or about 6,000 people will change their quality of life," the Deputy Regional Minister further said. She thanked the citizens for being united and being able to come together to launch the procedures. According to Yankova, after renovation, the buildings will be warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Temperatures are expected not to fall below 18 degrees. He added that at the moment, the main debate in Europe is how to make buildings more efficient by consuming less resources. She urged people not to stop benefiting from European programs and stressed that in the next stage the blocks can apply for the creation of energy communities, from where savings will come also in terms of electricity consumption. He appealed to the owners of the remaining buildings, which have not yet been able to participate in the renovation measures, to actively participate in the second national energy efficiency programme, for which BGN 2.5 billion from the budget is foreseen by the end of 2029.

Dora Yankova called on the residents of the buildings in which energy efficiency measures are implemented to monitor compliance with all rules in the implementation of construction activities, to be in dialogue with the municipality and to solve together the problems that have arisen, and not to block the construction process. The residents of the city expressed their gratitude for the unblocking of the program and the expert assistance, as well as the possibility for the renovation to be completely free of charge. In Pazardzhik Deputy Minister Yankova held a meeting with the mayor of the municipality Petar Kulenski, where they discussed the implementation of various projects and future investment intentions. They also inspected other apartment blocks that are being renovated under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
