Desislava Terzieva met with the Commissioner for regional policy Johannes Hahn

The Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva met with the European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn in Brussels today (31.03.2014). They held technical discussions regarding the development of Operational Program “Regions in growth” 2014-2020. 
Both discussed the completion of the project “Energy renovation of Bulgarian homes”, funded under Operational Program „Regional Development“2007-2013. Desislava Terzieva noted that 60 multifamily residential will be renovated this year, and before the end of 2015 the refurbishment of all planned 180 buildings will be completed.
As a National Coordinator for the Danube Strategy Minister Terzieva informed Commissioner Hahn about the actions planned for improvement of the National Coordination Mechanism for a more efficient interaction between the responsible structures and for a more complete commitment of parties interested in. The coordination is of major importance regarding the European Commission’s initiative for improving the management of the macro regional strategies of the EU. As a sign of Bulgaria’s commitment Dessilava Terzieva pointed out the readiness of the Ministry of Regional Development to appoint a meeting with the National persons of contact and Coordinators for priority fields of the Danube Strategy up to the end of the year.
Minister Terzieva underlined that Bulgaria attaches great importance to the coordination with neighboring countries within a macroeconomic context in order to achieve the targets of the Danube Strategy. The government intensified the communication at a high level with Romania and Serbia, which resulted in a Memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Regional Development of Bulgaria and Romania, she noticed. The three parties will develop an action plan for completion of the negotiated arrangements. Minister Terzieva informed Commissioner Hahn that in April the Council of Ministers will adopt a Strategy for development and management of water supply and sewerage for the period 2014-2023, which is a condition to provide investments in the sector under OP „Environment“2014-2020.
