„The Superior Administrative Court approved the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report, which gives a green light for the construction of the ring road of Gabrovo and the tunnel under Shipka passage.“ This was explained by the Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva, who inspected today the rehabilitation of road sections in Shumen region.

The Minister pointed out that the submitted application form for the site must be revised and submitted again for final approval from the European Commission. Terzieva reminded that the EIA report for the ring road of Gabrovo was appealed by ecological organizations, so because of that the site completion was temporary suspended. „The Supreme Administrative Court decision is final, so we can proceed with the completion of the ring road ”, declared the Minister.

„The opposition claimed, that we failed this project, that our application form was returned to us because of incompetence and lack of experts, which was untrue“, reminded Terzieva. „We just had to wait for the Court’s decision. Now the decision is issued and it is beneficial for us. So we can continue the construction of the ring road of Gabrovo and there will be a tunnel under Shipka. This is one of the priority sites of the government”, Terzieva was explicit.

Dessislava Terzieva, Minister of Regional Development, and eng. Stefan Chaikov, chairman of the board of directors of Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) inspected the prevention repair of approx. 3 km of the national road ІІ-74 in “Vabel” residential area in Targovishte. Most of all, the repair is important for the safety of the inhabitants. Almost BGN 2.5 million, provided by the saved resources for winter maintenance, were allocated for the repair. The Minister underlined that about BGN 15 million for repairs of road infrastructure will be invested in Targovishte region up to the end of the year. Besides that, 17 projects of the municipalities in the district, of a total value of BGN 7.5 million, will be financed under the Public investment program of the government.
Later on Terzieva inspected the rehabilitation of 40.5 km section of the road I-7 Shumen – Veliki Preslav – Varbica.The first class road is being repaired under "Transit Roads V” Program.

Lot 4 of the project includes the section Shumen – Veliki Preslav with a length of 26.9 кm, and lot 5 includes the section Mengishevo – Varbica – 13.7 кm. The investment for both sections amounts to € 10.7 million, VAT excluded. The contractors undertook before the Minister to complete the rehabilitation before November this year.
