Desislava Terzieva: We will construct 90 km of new roads and rehabilitate 512 km up to the end of the year

Nearly 90 km of new roads of the national road network will be build up to the end of the year, announced the Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva at the opening of the 9th  conference  „Strategic infrastructure Bulgaria 2014“.  The Minister of Regional development pointed out, that a priority of the government is to complete large infrastructural projects, started by the previous governments. These are both Lots of “Maritsa” speedway, Lot 4 of “Struma” speedway – Sandanski-Kulata, the ring road of Vratsa and the first section of the Western Arc of the Sofia Ring road. „These are the main projects , which we will finish up to the end of the year”, underlined Terzieva. She explained that the government works with priority on the repair of smaller roads of I and II class also. „This year we allocate BGN 50 millions under the Public Investment Program of the government, because our purpose is to repair roads, which were not rehabilitated for 20 years“, underlined Terzieva. The Minister informed that this year will be announced procurement procedures for construction and assembling works in roads sphere of indicative amount of about BGN 770 millions. During the new program period will be prepared projects for rehabilitation of about 700 km of 1st  2nd and 3rd  class roads, for which purpose about EUR 220 millions will be allocated under the new Operational Program “Regions in growth”. Under the new program the indicative sums for urban development with national co-funding amounts to nearly EUR 270 millions. It is foreseen, at the moment, to allocate this sum to 67 towns of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th level, said the Minister. She took a notice of the new policy of the government for reparation of dams for potable water supply, the construction of which started more than 20 years ago.  This year the Ministry’s budget ensured BGN 23 million to co-finance the loan of the World Bank, by which could start the construction of “Plovdivci” and “Luda Yana” dams, the rehabilitation of “Studena” dam and the designing of “Neykovci” dam.
