Joint project of MRDPW, the British Embassy and UNDP will strengthen the capacity of the municipalities

The Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Iskra Mihaylova, the UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Neil Buhne and the Deputy Head of the Mission of the UK Embassy Mr. Laurence Broyd will launch the Project “Strengthening the capacity of municipal stakeholders for the identification and preparation of partnership projects to be funded by the EU Structural Funds”. The ceremony will take place tomorrow in the town of Veliko Tarnovo. The project is a joint initiative of MRDPW, the British Embassy in Bulgaria and UNDP in support of the regional development in Bulgaria. This year it will be implemented in 90 municipalities, mainly from the Northeast and the Southeast Planning Regions with the participation of municipalities from other planning regions as well. MRDPW experts will present the activities on the project related to the Regional Development Operational Program. The project objective is to be supported the municipalities, the business and the NGOs in the formation of effective public-private partnerships in the realization of the municipality development plans. Expert help will be given for the identification and development of partnership projects which are eligible for Structure and Cohesion Funds requirements for financing. The launched initiative is in line with the Government priority for submission of a large number of projects, including municipality projects, which are to be financed by the Structure Funds.
