By Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works
Sofia-Kalotina Highway remains a priority for the Bulgarian government and there is a complete project pipeline for its implementation as well. However, its fdevelopment would start when the necessary financial resources are available. In 2015 our country will be focused on the finding of funding for the construction of this highway. That assurance came from both the minister of Regional Development and Public Works in Bulgaria, Lilyana Pavlova, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia Zorana Mihaylovic.
Sofia-Kalotina Highway has been presented in the project package with which our country applies for funding by the Junker Plan.
Bulgaria and Serbia will continue to develop the mutual collaboration in the field of infrastructure.
Under the current programme for cross-border cooperation for this year Bulgaria does not lose funding in relation to the N + 2 rule. Minister Pavlova informed the Deputy Prime Minister Mihaylovich that Bulgaria send the project for the new cross-border collaboration programme in September for approval by the European Commission. The comments of the experts from Brussels recommend Serbia to provide public discussion on the environmental assessment of the Programme. The Deputy Prime Minister engaged with the implementation of the comments.
‘It is very important to share information because we are a new government from six months now and we are open to discussions in order to make the processes faster,’ assured Zorana Mihaylovich.
Minister Ivaylo Moskovski raised the issue for common efforts regarding the stimulation of the process for the implementation of projects under Connecting Europe Facility. In relation to the mentioned above the implementation of projects for the modernization of the road and railway infrastructure in the direction Sofia - Serbian border was considered.
Minister Moskovski emphasized that Bulgaria is open to dialogue and collaboration in the scope of air navigation services in the context of the Single European Sky.
The necessity of negotiations for specifying the financial relationships between the railways of the two countries had also been discussed.
