The intensive political dialogue between Bulgaria and China in recent years has created a framework for fruitful cooperation in all areas. It is important that the excellent political dialogue also has a practical dimension by strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

This was stated by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Petya Avramova during a meeting with a delegation of the investment fund Touchstone Financial Group Holdings and China Railway International Group (CRIG).

The Minister stressed that our country supports the The Belt and Road Initiative, one of the areas of which is the synchronisation of policies in the field of transport infrastructure.

Petya Avramova welcomes the intention to create a platform for investment and implementation of strategic projects, primarily in key areas such as transport infrastructure, energy, technology in Bulgaria, the Balkans and the countries of the 17 + 1 Initiative, and the choice of our country as a Regional Center for its development and implementation.

The CRIG President Shiping Chen also pointed out the good cooperation and stressed that Bulgaria is one of the first countries to establish one with China. He said he was ready to deepen it by participating in specific projects in compliance with Bulgarian standards.

During the meeting were presented the road sites, which are strategic for our country and could be built on the principle of public-private partnership, such as the Cherno More Highway and the tunnels under Shipka Peak and under the Petrohan Pass.

In conclusion, Minister Avramova expressed confidence that the visit of the delegation of the investment fund in our country will be beneficial for cooperation in the road sector.
