Minister Desislava Terzieva started road projects for over BGN 30 million in Smolyan region

The Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva restarted the construction of the ring road of Chepelare and started the rehabilitation of 14 km of the road Chepelare–Sokolovci.
In Chepelare Minister Terzieva stated that over 4 km of road will be built, the investment for which amounts to €10.5 million provided under “Transit roads V” Program.
„The ambition is to complete the construction for one year“, Terzieva pointed out. The project has been started more than 10 years ago, but you can see its result – no road, but thousands of people are compelled to stand the inconveniences”, the Minister explained.
The building of the ring road will ensure a new way from the entrance to the exit of Chepelare. It will take the car traffic out of the town center and will improve the road safety in the region. From the new road will benefit not only the inhabitants and the tourists going to Pamporovo, but the business in the area as well. Тhe roadway is important also for the remaining 9 municipalities of the region, whose inhabitants use it as a connection to Plovdiv.
In Chepelare Minister Terzieva announced that BGN 1 million under the Public Investment Program will be used to repair the main pedestrian street in the town - “Vasil Dechev”Str., and for the reparation of “Belomorska“ street.
The Ministry of Regional Development will also allocate BGN 700 000 for reconstruction of the water supply network of Pavelsko village.„Our purpose is to repair the existing one as because of its poor condition, three of the largest villages of Chepelare municipality – Pavelsko, Hvoyna and Orehovo, as well Belev dol village, experience disruptions in the water supply in summer and autumn“, stated Desislava Terzieva.
Later on, in Rozhen, where the traditional folklore event takes place, Minister Terzieva started the rehabilitation of 14 km of the road Chepelare-Sokolovci. The roadway, part of the main road Plovdiv–Smolyan-Madan, is in very poor condition for many years. The resources for the rehabilitation, amounting to about BGN 10 million, are provided under the Bulgaria-Greece Cross Border Cooperation Program.
„The main priority of our government is to reduce discrepancies between the regions, which deepened for the last 4 years. Therefore one of our main priorities is to repair small roads, which are in poor condition and connect regions and populated areas, under different sources of funding. Every citizen has a right to travel safely along good roads”, said the Minister of Regional Development.
The repair of the main road Chepelare–Sokolovci must be completed up to the end of the summer.
During the briefing for the media the Minister informed that infrastructural projects for approx. €100 million from the state resources will be started in Smolyan region up to the end of the year.
The total investment in the region under Operational Program “Regional Development” amounts to BGN 43 million.
