The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov was a guest of the festive patriarchal service for the consecration of the new temple and the opening of the new northern wing in the Kremikovtsi Monastery. The Liturgy is personally led by the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan Daniel of Sofia, together with Metropolitans of the Holy Synod. The reconstruction and renovation of the Kremikovtsi Monastery is part of a project under the Operational Programme ‘Regions in Growth’ 2014-2020. The total value of the project is BGN 12 million, of which BGN 8.9 million is a grant, a financial instrument amounting to BGN 300 000 and the beneficiary’s own financing amounting to BGN 2.8 million. The project implemented a northern monastery wing with the Sofia Sveta Gora information centre, a museum exposition, a magisterium, doxes, a chapel with frescoes, iconostases, furniture and equipment, and a bell tower. The reconstruction not only improves the physical condition of the monastery, but also emphasizes its importance as a cultural heritage. The event was also attended by the deputy ministers of regional development and public works, Vesselina Terziyska and Yura Vitanova, as well as the mayor of the Kremikovtsi district, Lilia Donkova.
