What is happening is important for all those living in northern Bulgaria, because without the Hemus motorway there is no future. Its release will make it easier for travelers to Pleven and Rousse. After about a month, the relief will be for all travelers to Varna, because construction continues. This was said during today's inspection of section 1 of the Hemus motorway between Boaza and Dermantsi by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Ivan Ivanov.

Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov, who also participated in the inspection, pointed out that the commissioning of the motorway section creates a safer environment. “I hope everything happens at a faster pace. All institutions are responsible for the efforts," he said.

At that time, the Hemus motorway had to be fully travelled, said Nikolay Nankov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy, Public Works and Local Self-Government. He expressed regret for the lost time, because of which only part of the highway was put into operation and expressed admiration for the team of Minister Ivanov, who has accelerated the infrastructure construction. Nikolay Nankov pointed out that permits had been issued for new sections of the Hemus motorway, and that this was yet to be done for part 9.

The new 10-kilometre section of Hemus Motorway is between the Boaza and Dermantsi road junctions and vehicles of up to 12 tonnes are already travelling on it. The route starts at 88 km from Boaza and reaches the intersection with road III-307 Lukovit – Ugarchin, including the Dermantsi road junction. The two road junctions will connect to the national road network. The final stage is the construction of a stage connection at 103 km, which will connect the newly built motorway route and the existing road III-307 Lukovit-Ugarchin. The traffic will pass through it until the final completion and commissioning of the next section of Hemus Motorway. It is expected that the section from "Dermanci" to the stage link at 103 km of the motorway will be completed next month.
