Minister Pavlova is on a Working Visit in Brussels

The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Mrs. Lilyana Pavlova, is on a working visit in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium.
Within her visit Minister Pavlova met the president of the Committee of the Regions, Mr. Markku Markkula. She presented to him the policies and priorities of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
The role of the local authorities in the regional development as well as in the context of the implementation of Operational Programme Regions in Growth 2014-2020 was a topic of
their conversation. Mrs. Pavlova discussed with Mr. Markkula the support that the government provides to the local authorities for the development of the urban infrastructure, the increase of the investments in their territory as well as the progress on the National Programme for Energy Efficiency of Multi-family Residential Buildings
The implementation of the Strategy for the Danube Region, the necessity of a specific financial instrument for achieving its goals and priorities as well as the future of the cohesion policy, was also on focus. Special attention was paid to the forthcoming Bulgarian Chairmanship of the EU Council in the second half of 2018 and the opportunities that it provides for cooperation between the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and the Committee of the Regions.
The Regional Minister held working meetings with Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva – Vice-president of the European Commission, as well as Mr. Walter Deffaa, Director – General, DG Regional and Urban Policy and Mr. Daniel Calleja, Director – General, DG Environment.
