Minister Plevneliev: Bulgaria has presented projects on the four priority axes of the Danube Strategy

Bulgaria has presented projects on the four priority axes of the Danube Strategy - connectivity, environment, socio-economic development, governance and security. Our country is interested and ready to carry out  the coordination of the priority axis of the Danube Strategy- "Development of tourism and cultural dialogue". Those were the words of the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works-Rosen Plevneliev during his participation in the Third Danube Conference. The Forum, which is dedicated to the Danube area, is organized by the Permanent Mission of Baden-Württemberg to the European Commission, and is held during the Eighth European Week of Regions and Cities - “Open Days 2010”.
Minister Plevneliev reminded that a year ago, in Brussels, a statement on the formation of strategic objectives and priorities of EU strategy for the development of the Danube area had been adopted, and a year later a of set  priorities was established, as a result of successful work and partnership. He added that they aim at finding solutions of mutual interest.
The Minister expressed his confidence that the implementation of the Strategy will contribute to improving the physical and human capital of the entire  region, the increasing of its attractiveness for investors and residents in order to "higher value added”. The overall priorities for competitiveness, innovation and energy efficiency will be carried out as well.
In his speech Minister Plevneliev indicated priority areas for Bulgaria in the Danube Strategy, where a number of projects have been prepared:
 - accessibility betterment, transport links and communications along and to the Danube River, as well as the efficient use of energy resources
- improving water quality, conservation of the rich regional biodiversity, prevention and risk management
 -increasing the Competitiveness of Regions through innovation, education, culture, tourism, multicultural dialogue and conservation of the regional identity and rich cultural heritage
 -strengthening of the management capacity, coordination and partnership at all levels, improving security and integration of disadvantaged people
Yesterday a Bulgarian stand was opened at the exhibition-fair, which was accompanying to the Danube Strategy Conference. It was of great interest for visitors, and our national cuisine and materials for the tourist attractions and sights in the country attracted many viewers.
