Minister Terzieva: We continue building highways, but we consider second and third class road network as well

The Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva started the prevention repair of about 15 km of the third class road Tryavna –Gabrovo. This road was not repaired for 40 years, although it is an important connection between the two settlements and dozens of other villages.
The repair is financed with BGN 3.5 million, provided under the Public investment program of the government as the purpose is a permanent improvement of the road condition.
„This site is one more proof of applying the new policy for the road sector namely to provide investments also for “small roads” , said the Minister of Regional Development. „We continue to build speedways, but we consider second and third class road network as well”, underlined Desislava Terzieva.
„I wish to the contractors to complete the site with a good quality and in time, in order to assure safe and comfortable traveling during this tourist season ”, declared the Minister.
At a press conference after the event, Minister Desislava Terzieva informed that up to the end of the year nearly BGN 6.5 million will be invested in the region under the Public investment program of the government, as almost BGN 1.5 million are distributed for measures of improvement of the water supply of Gabrovo, Sevlievo and 11 villages of the regions and over BGN 1.2 million are intended for municipal projects.
Besides BGN 380 000 are provided by the budget of the "Road infrastructure" agency for completing the first stage of the repairing the third class road Gabrovo – Debel Dyal including the “Emanuil Manolov” street and “Chardafon” street in Gabrovo. It is planned to start the repairation of the 1km long section in June by which time the construction of underground communications must have finished.
Minister Terzieva generalized that 25 projects in the region are funded under Operational Program “Regional Development” 2007-2013 as 9 of them for total amount of BGN 25 million are currently under completion. The Municipality of Gabrovo is a beneficiary of a lot of projects funded under OPRD, which amount to BGN 33 million in total. 9 of them are completed , 6 are under completion.
„The statements that the government had excluded Gabrovo region are completely irrelevant. The amounts of resources, under the government budget, for investment in the region are eloquent. We have chosen to fund projects, related to the growth and sustainable development of the region”, pointed out Minister Terzieva.
