Minister Terzieva: We will rehabilitate and repair 86 km of roads in Yambol region up to the end of the year

 The Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva started the rehabilitation of 7 km of the ring road of Elhovo. The project is included as sub site of Lot 6 of “Transit roads V” under which the Elhovo - Burgas road is being refurbished.

„This site is a step forward to the real completion of the new policy in the road sector, namely to improve the condition of small roads“, highlighted in her statement the Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva. BGN 50 million were saved up under the Public investment program of the government for reparation of second and third class road network.

„Our policy is aimed not only to continue the construction of speedways, but also to rehabilitate smaller roads“, underlined the Minister as well and added that many regions in the country which were forgotten for the last 4 years, urgently need measures for repairs.

Desislava Terzieva announced that a public procurement for one more project under „Transit roads V “program will be published next month. That is the road Sliven-Yambol- Sredets, with a total length of 65 km and indicative value of about €30 million.

“It's going intense work on the rehabilitation of the road Yambol– Vesselinovo“, informed the Minister of Regional Development after an inspection of the construction works on the second class road. „The constructors assured me that up to the end of the month they will be ready with the 10 km section“, added Terzieva. The section has not been repaired more then 30 years, although it is a main road connection between Sliven and Yambol. The project funding by BGN 4.5 million is provided by the Public investment program of the government.

„The government policy is directed to the rehabilitation of second and third class road network, as this site, and I am satisfied that it is under completion“, declared the Minister of Regional Development. „With resources amounting to BGN 500 000 and provided under the Public investment program, we will also start to repair 2 km of the road Elhovo – Kniazhevo“, informed Terzieva as well. She reminded that three days ago the repair of 16 km of the road Golyam manastir- Krumovo-Inzovo- Roza was finished, funded with BGN 8 million under OP “Regional Development” 2007-2013.

„Up to the end of the year we will rehabilitate in total 86 km of roads in Yambol region“, summarized the Minister. „The previous government believed that the completion of “Trakia” speedway is enough for the region, without noticing that that we have a lot of work on the second and third class road network as well, as it was not a priority of the former government. As a result we have got ruined roads, along which people travel very difficultly“, explained Desislava Terzieva. She pointed out that the construction of large infrastructural sites does continue, but attention is paid to the small roads as well.

Before the media the Minister announced that repairs and rehabilitation of about 1500 km of roads will continue and start up to the end of the year. Up to the end of 2014 90 km of new roads will be completed , including both Lots of “Maritsa” speedway, lot 4 of “Struma” speedway and the ring road of Vratsa.
