“I will do my best to continue the work started by the team of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and there will be continuity in my work. Without continuity we cannot move forward.”
This was said by the caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova upon taking over the post from the outgoing Minister Andrey Tsekov.
“I am aware that there is a lot to do and the period is short. That is why it is important not to slow down, not to waste time and to finish what has been started,” Koritarova stressed.
She explained that there is currently some delay in the implementation of the projects set out in the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan being implemented by the MRDPW, but she will try to catch up.
Andrei Tsekov, for his part, wished success to the new minister and outlined several key parameters on which he leaves a “front for work” to his successor. First of all, he put the construction of the four main highways - Hemus, Europe, Ruse-Byala and Vidin-Botevgrad.
“The major repairs are also part of the projects that will enable the absorption of capital funds,” Tsekov added and explained that there is a certain backlog with the issuance of building permits for some major repairs, which is a weakness of the Road Infrastructure Agency.
“Colossal work has been done by the team of the MRDPW on the “municipal programme”, he further stressed and pointed out that there are exceptional professionals working in the department.
