Over BGN 126 million will be invested in zero-emission urban transport, charging stations and infrastructure for safe urban mobility. They will be directed to the municipalities of Aitos, Asenovgrad, Velingrad, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kazanlak, Lovech, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Petrich, Samokov, Sliven, Haskovo and Shumen, with which the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works signed contracts for financing projects for environmentally friendly mobility.
The funding will provide 97 new zero-emission vehicles, 78 charging stations for public transport vehicles and implement 7 smart digital solutions for transport in municipalities. They will also result in safe urban mobility infrastructure targeting vulnerable road users - pedestrians and cyclists in all 15 municipalities.
The funds are under the procedure “Environmentally friendly mobility” within the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan, with BGN 98 419 013,24 BGN of the funds coming from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the remaining BGN 27 747 408,43 from the applicants' own funding.
The main objective of the project proposals is the implementation of sustainable urban mobility measures in partnerships in the presence of identified priorities in the Integrated Development Plans of the municipalities as well as compliance with the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans.
Thanks to the concluded contracts, it is expected to achieve the milestone 202 “Contracts for new zero emission public transport vehicles” and to realise the Recovery and Sustainability Plan targets 203 “New zero emission vehicles”, 204 “Charging stations for public transport vehicles”, 205 “Smart digital solutions for transport in municipalities” and milestone 206 “Infrastructure for safe urban mobility targeting vulnerable road users - pedestrians and cyclists”.
