284 contracts have been concluded to finance investment proposals with Recovery and Sustainability Plan funds
Over BGN 463 million will be invested in energy renovation of public buildings for administrative services, culture and sports under the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan. All 284 contracts for the financing of investment proposals under the procedure “Support for sustainable energy renovation of public building stock for administrative services, culture and sport” have now been signed. More than BGN 397.5 million of these are from the Recovery and Sustainability Facility and the rest is self-financing of the final beneficiaries.
More than BGN 220 million will be invested in the renovation and implementation of energy efficiency measures in administrative buildings of 79 municipalities, fire departments, police departments and the headquarters of state institutions.
Another part of the funds will go towards renovation and energy efficiency measures in cultural institutions across the country. These include theatres, over 60 community centres, museums, libraries, cultural centres and art galleries. Landmark sites such as the Sofia Opera and Ballet building, the State Satirical Theatre “Aleko Konstantinov”, the Drama and Puppet Theatre “Ivan Radoev”, the National Library “Ivan Vazov” - Plovdiv, the Drama Theatre - Lovech, the Central Army Library of the Bulgarian Army in Sofia will also be renovated.
Renovation and refurbishment of sports halls, stadiums, sports facilities and complexes, as well as indoor swimming pools is planned. Examples are the sports complex “Shabla”, the sports building and the stadium of the town of Popovo, the sports center of the town of Radnevo, Tundzha stadium, Septemvri complex in the town of Simitli, sports complex “Lokomotiv” in the city of Varna, “Georgi Benkovski” stadium in the city of Vidin, “Beroe” stadium и тренировъчна спортна зала в град Стара Загора, „Гребна база” в гр. Vidin, wrestling hall and a training sports hall in the city of Stara Zagora, Regata Chanel in the city of Vidin, a wrestling hall in the city of Bobov Dol, etc. Several projects under the procedure plan to repair indoor swimming pools - RC “Meden Rudnik”, city of Burgas, residential area “Elenovo-1”, city of Blagoevgrad, “Anton Mitrov”, city of Velingrad, city of Vratsa, etc.
The investments are aimed at introducing energy efficiency measures to achieve a minimum of class “B” energy consumption and a minimum of 30% primary energy savings in the buildings subject to intervention. The activities under the procedure foresee ongoing renovation to introduce energy efficiency measures, the provision of an accessible environment and the construction of a hybrid photovoltaic system for self-generation of electricity, etc.
