Today, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Minister Rosen Plevneliev opened a wastewater treatment plant near Stara Zagora and the adjoining collector to it. The facility is part of a major project "Construction of wastewater treatment plants in the basin of Maritsa River - Stara Zagora, Dimitrovgrad and Haskovo, estimated at the total of 40 million euro. Presently, it is the most advanced treatment plant in Bulgaria. It is funded under ISPA program of the European Union - 75%, the European Investment Bank - 15% and the state budget - 10%.
The treatment plant will perform primary, secondary and tertiary water purifying, and waste products. The waste product, which is methane, will be used to produce electricity. "I am delighted that we achieved 95% absorption of ISPA funds," said Minister Plevneliev and recalled that projects for more than 20 million leva have been realized in Stara Zagora, as transport infrastructure projects for tourism and other attractions are expected to be approved. Stara Zagora is one of the seven poles of growth in Bulgaria, reminded the Minister.
Minister Plevneliev opened the first national laboratory for construction products testing for  “reaction to fire products " at the Centre for European Testing and Certification / CETC / GmbH - Stara Zagora. The notification of a national laboratory, able to determine "reaction to fire products”, is of a crucial importance for the Bulgarian producers of construction products. This will ensure the proper use of materials and will increase the safety of the sites, highlighted Plevneliev.
Up to four and a half months are necessary for the first Museum of religions in an Aeschylus mosque to be built in the territory of Stara Zagora. It will be the first one of a kind for Bulgaria and will be funded under the Operational Programme "Regional Development". Prime Minister Borisov, in the presence of Deputy Minister Liliana Pavlova, head of the Managing Authority of OPRD, gave an official launch of the project today.
Later today, Prime Minister Borisov and Minister Plevneliev inspected the construction of Lot 2 of the Trakia motorway during the working visit. The execution of the highway is a month ahead of schedule, said Minister Plevneliev. The largest facility of Lot 2 - ring gear to Stara Zagora will be opened in September, also ahead of schedule.
