Regional Development Minister Valentin Tserovski and HE Dimitris Kourkoulas, Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Bulgaria, presented the contracts under the PHARE Roads Access to Tourism Sites project.
“It is an honour for me to be among you as today we are making one more step towards the realization of the Roads Access to Tourism Sites Project, Tserovski said. Municipal roads are of crucial importance in the development of tourism and the economy HE Dimitris Kourkoulas said.
The Roads Access to Tourism Sites Project is worth 15.331 million euros, 10 million of which have been provided under PHARE and 5.331 million are national co-financing.
The programme provides for the rehabilitation of class four roads in 10 regions of the North-east and South-central planning region of Bulgaria, Tserovski said. The total length of the road sections is 146 km, divided in four lots.
The construction and supervision contractors were chosen in international tenders.
The Rodopi consortium, which includes Austria’s STRABAG and Bulgaria’s Inzhstroy AD – Sofia and AB AD – Haskovo, will repair road sections in the regions of Smolyan, Haskovo and Kurdjali. The contract is worth 3,105,000 euros.
The rehabilitation of road sections in the region of Pazardjik has been assigned to the Trakia consortium which also includes Austria’s STRABAG and Bulgaria’s Inzhstroy AD – Sofia and AB AD – Haskovo. The contract is worth 3,275,200 euros.
The Mesochoriti Bros- Road Construction Veliko Turnovo AD joint venture will rehabilitate roads in the Shoumen, Razgrad and Turgovishte regions. The signed contract is worth 3,714,500 euros.
Road sections in the regions of Varna, Dobrich and Silistra will be rehabilitated by Glavbolgarstroy. The contract is worth 4,174,500 euros.
Supervision will be carried out by Spain’s TIPSA in partnership with Bulgaria’s Controls AD. The contract signed with them is worth 1,061,843 euros.
Construction work is expected to be completed in 15 months.
