The building of the Veliko Tarnovo Regional Administration will be renovated and modernised with over BGN 8.5 million from the Regional Development Programme 2021-2027 managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. The contract for the renovation works was signed between the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and Head of the Managing Authority of the Programme Yura Vitanova and the Regional Governor of Veliko Tranovo Yulia Likomanova-Mutafchieva.

The aim of the project is to upgrade the energy performance of the building to Class A, which, in addition to the Governor’s administration, houses structures of 13 other state institutions and departments. The implementation of energy-saving measures and elements to improve the thermal performance of the building is envisaged in order to achieve a reduction in the total cost of energy, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness, to achieve savings by reducing energy costs and saving public funds and at least a 30% reduction in the annual primary consumption of energy and greenhouse gases. In addition to thermal insulation of all surrounding elements, window frames on the facades will be replaced, energy-efficient lighting, heating and air-conditioning will be installed and renewable energy sources (photovoltaics) will be built. The construction of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is also planned, which is also a step to increase ambient air quality and reduce harmful emissions.  The contract also plans measures for green infrastructure and space for the inclusion and recreation of employees and service users, as well as an accessible physical environment for persons with disabilities in and around the building.

The project ‘Energy efficiency measures, sustainable renovation and green infrastructure of the Administrative Building with ID 10447.513.298.5, Veliko Tarnovo’, financed under the procedure ‘Support for integrated urban development in the 10 urban municipalities – main growth centres’ of the Programme ‘Development of the Regions’ 2021-2027, has an implementation period of 36 months from the signature of the contract.
