The construction of the last section of “Trakia Motorway” has begun

“Nine Bulgarian companies have to prove they are able to build fast, accurate and in time”. Those were the word of the Minister of regional development and public works at the beginning of the construction works of the final and longest segment, part of “Trakia Motorway”, situated between Yambol and Carnobat.

Minister Plevneliev stressed that only a year after the GERB government has come into power, 167 km of motorways are already under construction – this is the total that all governments erected over the last 20 years. He added that the state’s policy is changing in favor of the Bulgarian citizens, regions and economy. The renewed rehabilitation of the secondary and third class roads under the Operational Programme "Regional Development" was pointed as an example.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov gave the constructor of Lot 4 Association “TRAKIA IV" DZZD, with leading partner “Roads Holding” PLC, its building permit and asked the highway to be ready in June 2012 rather than in September, as it was stated in the contract. He made it clear that the promise of putting the highway into operation in 2012 will be kept, as the one for “Lyulin Highway”. The Prime Minister stressed that the quality control of the construction will be strengthened, and the supervision on a daily basis will be put into practice.

The segment between Yambol and Karnobat will be built by the association “TRAKIA IV"DZZD, with a leading partner “Roads Holding” PLC. The construction works’ value for the segment, with lenght 49.8 km (from km to km 276 200 325 280), is 174,705,600 euro and is financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union under the Operational Programme “Transport 2007-2013”. The construction supervision will be implemented by “Plan Invest – Plovdivinvest - LOT 4” DZZD and is estimated on 812 000 leva.

After the first sod the Prime Minister and the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works inspected the work of the Greek company "Actor, which is building Lot 3 of “Trakia Motorway”.
