The construction of the road and the buildings of the cross-border checkpoint Lessovo will have been executed by the middle of the year 2004, said Minister Valentin Cerovski during his visit at the cross-border checkpoint. He met with the vali of the city of Odrin Mr. Fahri Udjel on the spot - on Bulgarian territory. Mr. Udjel confirmed that Turkey also attached great importance to the cross-border checkpoint Hamzabeili and intended to complete the project together with Bulgaria. Minister Valentin Cerovski added that the cross-border checkpoint Silistra-Kulurash was under way so that a corridor would be formed in near future which would serve as the most direct transport link between the Near East and Ukraine, Moldavia, Russia and other countries and who would take some of the traffic of lorries. The meeting between Minister Valentin Cerovski and the vali of the city of Odrin Mr. Fahri Udjel was attended by the district governor of Yambol Mincho Spasov, the deputy Governor Nadia Dankinova, the consul of Turkey in Bourgas Vural Altai and other official guests. Minister Valentin Cerovski expressed his hope that putting into operation the cross-border checkpoint Lessovo-Hamzabeili would enhance the economic prosperity of the region of Elhovo. The mayor of Elhovo Dimitar Dimitrov announced that the Municipality worked very well with the municipal authorities and the MRDPW during the last two years. This resulted not only in implementing the 10-year efforts for construction of the road to the checkpoint and the customs complex, but also in implementing a lot of projects related to the municipal infrastructure and the better service of population.
