The Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva opened the Third session of the Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Kazakh commission for economic cooperation, which started today in Sofia. The Kazakh delegation is leaded by the Deputy-Minister of Regional Development Kairat Absattatov.
At the opening Minister Terzieva underlined that Bulgarian-Kazakh commission for economic cooperation is summoned for the first time after a 10 year suspension.
“Today’s meeting of the Intergovernmental commission is a proof of our wish for enlarging the cooperation between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan following the spirit of the existing good bilateral relations” mentioned Minister Terzieva. According to her today’s meeting is important for the further development of both commercial and economic relations and bilateral cooperation in all fields of mutual interest. “The Bulgarian party appreciated as very perspective the economic cooperation with Kazakhstan – the country with the most dynamically developing economy in Central Asia”, emphasized Terzieva.
The Minister pointed out that both countries took many steps to develop the bilateral political and economical relations, but she considered that the level of the bilateral economic relations and commerce does not sufficiently reflect both countries’ possibilities and interests. “I expect, that the decisions of the meeting of the Intergovernmental commission would stimulate its development”.
Within the session discussions were held to clarify the positions and texts for bilateral documents in the fields of justice, transport, education, culture and sport.
Minister Terzieva brought the opportunity for Bulgarian companies, with a proven authority and experience, to participate into the program of construction of Kazakhstan, as they can provide engineering, designing and construction of residences, industrial buildings, water supply and sewerage. The opportunity for Bulgaria to increase its export to Kazakhstan of many goods and services was discussed. Minister Terzieva commented also the opportunity of development of tourism, by opening of airlines between Sofia, Varna, Burgas and Astana, Alma-Ata, Atarau or Actau.    
A business meeting of subject “Promotion of the economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan” was held at the same time – a common initiative of the Ministry of Regional Development and the Bulgarian chamber of commerce and industry. Within this forum the representatives of Bulgarian business held discussions for potential partnerships.
During the meeting Minister Terzieva mentioned, that Bulgaria possesses many advantages as a business destination, namely macro economic and financial stability, lowest taxes in the European Union, qualified manpower and lowest operational costs for business in Europe.
She assured the Kazakhstan party that Bulgarian government is ready to support all mutually beneficial Bulgarian –Kazakhstan projects and business initiatives, which would lead to encouragement of bilateral commercial and economic relationships.
Minster Terzieva voiced her confidence that the discussions between both delegations, during the meetings of the Intergovernmental commission and within the business meeting, will be beneficial and will contribute to activate and strengthen the relationships between both countries.
