The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works provided the Sofia Municipality with a grant for the renovation of the Sofia Theatre

The Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and Head of the Managing Authority of the Operational Program "Regions in Growth" 2014-2020 - Zahari Hristov, signed on 15.09.2021 contract for granting financial aid to Sofia Municipality for the implementation of project BG16RFOP001-1.001-0008-C01 "Development of the cultural infrastructure in Sofia Municipality through investments in the renovation of the Sofia Theatre - Oborishte region.

The project has a total value of BGN 9,770,197, of which BGN 5,500,000 is provided as a grant from the Operational Programme "Regions in Growth" 2014-2020.

The project envisages a set of activities related to the reconstruction, renovation and introduction of energy efficiency measures at the Sofia Theater, as well as providing an accessible environment for people with disabilities in accordance with modern standards and regulations. The replacement of the internal layout of the floors will increase the functionality of the areas and their optimal utilisation for the purposes of the theatre, improving the comfort and quality of the experience of visitors.

The need for a modern, contemporary, meeting the dynamically growing requirements of visitors, cultural infrastructure is important for positioning Sofia in the European cultural calendar as an attractive cultural destination. Therefore, the successful implementation of this project will contribute to the implementation of one of the important strategic goals of Sofia Municipality.
