The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works will cooperate with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development

The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) will cooperate with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the implementation of the regional development policy in Bulgaria and the preparation for programming the next programming period 2021-2027. To this end, the Council of Ministers approved a draft Agreement between the two institutions to provide consulting assistance in the preparation for the next programming period and authorized the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works to sign it. The consulting assistance is expected to continue until the end of December 2020.

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will analyze the structure and functioning of the main units responsible for the implementation of the regional policy. The challenges facing it will be taken into account, given the mechanisms for financing investments in territorial development after 2020.

The consulting assistance that the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide to the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works according to the draft Agreement is worth BGN 1,913,000 and will be provided under Priority Axis 8 “Technical Assistance” under the Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” 2014-2020.

The results of the implementation of the Agreement will contribute both to the implementation of the National Strategy for Regional Development in Bulgaria for the period 2012-2022 and to the preparation of the new national document for strategic and territorial planning for the period 2021-2030.
