The previous forum of that kind of Bulgarian and Greek companies working on infrastructural projects, which was held exactly an year ago, in Thessaloniki again, showed me this sphere had a great potential which had to be developed. This was announced by the Regional Development and Public Works Minister Valentin Cerovski during his welcoming speech addressed to the participants in the conference on development of the cooperation between Bulgarian and Greek companies in the sphere of management, design and implementation of infrastructural projects, which was held on 2 April 2004 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The forum was attended also by the Greek Minister of Macedonia and Thrace Mr. N. Tsiartsionis and the Transport Deputy Minister of the Republic of Greece Mr. Atanasios Neradzis. Bulgaria was represented by the Road Executive Agency, the companies Technoexportstroy Ltd, Avtomagistrali Ltd, the construction holding Tracy Group, Injstroy – Sofia, Sofinvest, Moststroy, etc. At the forum was presented the work of the Road Executive Agency, the Pan-European Corridor № 4 – in its Bulgarian part, railroad infrastructural projects, the investment opportunities in Bulgaria and other projects. It is increasingly apparent that Bulgaria and Greece have mutual, very strong interests to implement the motorway route of Corridor № 4 connecting the Danube Bridge – 2 and the Crossborder Checkpoint Kulata, announced Minister Valentin Cerovski on the opening of the ceremony. He added that Pan-European Corridor № 4 gives the opportunity for the harbours of Lom and Thessaloniki to be connected with one small digression and he clarified it is not by accident that Greece invests in the reconstruction and modernization of the harbour of Lom and it is not by accident that a lot of Greek companies express wish to take part in the implementation of this project for the motorway in the direction of Corridor № 4 from Vidin to Kulata. Minister Cerovski strongly asked the representatives of the companies from both countries to estimate their own risk and voiced his hope that they make the correct business decisions and will participate as investors, contractors or consultants in the implementation of infrastructural projects on the territory of Bulgaria and Greece. Bulgaria is to become an EU member and we, as politicians, are aware of the fact that it is of paramount importance to accept the challenge of our infrastructure meeting all modern standards, added Minister Cerovski.
