The Shoumen panorama road has been opened

The reconstructed panorama road connecting the town of Shoumen with the complex “Founders of the Bulgarian State”, the old town and the Shoumen Fortress was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Dimcho Mihalevsky. The road sector is about 13 km long and crosses the National Park “Shoumen Plateau” and the protected reserve “Bukatsite”. Another five road sectors in the districts of Shoumen, Razgrad and Targovishte have been included in Lot 3 of the project “Roads access to tourism sites”. The means for the reconstruction works have been envisaged under Phare Program – Economical and Social Cohesion. The reconstructed sectors are part of the municipality road net and facilitate the road access to the tourist landmarks such as the Tracian sanctuary from II-IV century near Targovishte, Sboryanovo, Sveshtari and the monument “Ginina Mogila” (“Gina mound”), the monastery in “Patleyna” reserve, the architectural reserve “Veliki Preslav” (“The Great Preslav”), the palace of the first Bulgarian capital in the region of the Pliska town. Rehabilitation works have been carried out as well on the road giving access from Razgrad to the tourist and resort complex in the Pchelina area. The total amount of the construction works and the supervision is over MEUR 4,8. The consortium which carried out the construction works is from the Greek firm Mesohoriti whose partner was “Patni Stroeji – Veliko Tarnovo”.
