The Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Dimcho Mihalevsky gave today the formal start of the landslide stabilization in the Sveti Nikola area near Varna. The stabilization of the landslide in the Sveti Nikola area is under project “Bulgaria – Riverbank and Coastline Landslide Stabilization” financed with MEUR 25 by the European Investment Bank (EIB), MEUR 15 by the Council of Europe Development Bank and MEUR 14 from the state budget. The construction works on the site will be carried out by the Bulgarian consortium “Stanilov & Valmex” and the supervision is awarded to “Mot McDonald” – Great Britain. The contract for construction amounts to MEUR 4,994 including VAT and the supervision contract – for 226 000 EUR including VAT. The financing is ensured by EIB. The aim of the project for the landslide stabilization in the Sveti Nikola area is to be guaranteed the reliability of the road Varna – Zlatni Piasatsi in the sector between the Pochivka and Trakata areas. As a part of the project is envisaged the construction of a 3,3 km of a new highway water pipeline. Thanks to it will be diminished the losses of water and will be limited significantly the level of the subterranean waters which is one of the main factors for the landslide processes in the region. By the end of the year will be signed the contracts for stabilization of the landslide in Trifon Zarezan area and will be issued Act 16 (Put-in-exploitation Certificate) for Panorama, announced Deputy Minister Mihalevsky.
