The structure of the Intermediate Body in Varna municipality under Operational Programme ꞌRegions in Growthꞌ has already been approved, said the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Mrs. Lilyana Pavlova, to media representatives in the town. She reminded that a budget totaling BGN 84 million has been provided under Operational Programme ꞌRegions in Growthꞌ for the municipality. These funds under Priority Axis 1 of the Programme will be invested in projects for urban development, energy efficiency, educational infrastructure, etc. The Minister informed that Varna is in the final stage of the development of its investment plan, and then the municipality will be able to contract services for implementation of the priority projects, which will be included in the plan.
The Programme, apart from Priority Axis 1, would support the reform in the vocational education, said the Minister. This means that we will invest in professional schools, thus providing support for business and investments, so the state will be able to produce more staff in certain sectors, she explained. The Ministry of Education determined which state professional schools will receive funding, stated Pavlova, adding that the indicative value of the projects that have to be implemented for the schools included in the priority list totals BGN12 million.
They are part of the provided financial resource of over BGN 130 million for educational infrastructure throughout the country.
These funds are not part of the guaranteed budget for Varna, totaling BGN 84 million, including the renovation of more than 10 schools and kindergartens. Additional BGN 12 million would be invested in ten professional schools of economy, tourism, electronics, etc. We would invest not only in rehabilitation and energy efficiency of the buildings, but also in specialized equipment for laboratories, where students will be able to conduct practical activities, emphasized the Regional Minister.
