The project delivered 99 vehicles, built 82 charging stations and 26 km of new bike lanes
Modern electric buses take over the public service of passengers in 30 Bulgarian municipalities. The investment is for over EUR 60 million from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works under the Recovery and Resilience Plan under the "Green Mobility" procedure for the modernization of public transport and the development of a sustainable and safe urban environment.
The project covers the municipalities of Kazanlak, Pavel Banya, Aytos, Karnobat, Asenovgrad, Sadovo, Pazardzhik, Peshtera, Gabrovo, Sevlievo, Vratsa, Montana, Velingrad, Rakitovo, Sliven, Yambol, Samokov, Ihtiman, Haskovo, Svilengrad, Harmanli, Dobrich, Petrich, Sandanski, Botevgrad, Shumen, Targovishte, Pernik and Breznik, and the municipality of Dobrich as a partner.
99 electric buses and 82 charging stations were delivered. Over 26 km of cycling infrastructure and 270 illuminated hiking trails have been built. There are also 6 smart digital solutions for transport in municipalities that improve the organisation and management of mobility. Nearly 940,000 residents of these cities are already using the renovated urban infrastructure. New electric buses for urban and interurban public transport replace part of the conventional fleet and contribute to cleaner air and less noise in cities. They offer a more comfortable and accessible journey, including for people with disabilities and parents with strollers. Lower energy consumption and operating and maintenance costs also enable more efficient public transport.
New and renewed cycling infrastructure provides a safer alternative to travel, and illuminated pedestrian crossings improve the safety of the most vulnerable road users. In some of the municipalities are implemented specific routes that connect settlements and create opportunities for clean and alternative transport.
