“Artificial intelligence will not replace an engineer, architect, or expert, but it can enhance our ability to make faster, more grounded, and more transparent decisions.”

This was said by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works arch. Pavleta Pelovska. She participated in the National Forum “Building with Artificial Intelligence – from Campus to Smart City”, organized by the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy.

She told the participants in the forum that artificial intelligence is already part of construction and infrastructure, and “the question for the sector is not whether we will use it, but how we will turn technological capabilities into real better solutions.”

According to her, a particularly important advantage of technologies is the ability to use them not only for analysis, process identification and risk forecasting, but also for taking preventive actions in a number of areas of life, including construction and the development of water supply and sewerage and road infrastructure. This will change the way infrastructure systems are planned and managed, it became clear from the Deputy Minister's words.

Instead of looking only for what has already happened, the analysis can help answer questions about what is likely to happen and what can be done in advance. In front of the students and the representatives of the academic circles, architect Pelovska pointed out that despite the introduction of these technologies, the human factor remains decisive: “AI offers, but the person solves and the person remains responsible.” “The significant change is not in artificial intelligence to “build for us”, but to enable us to see the problem before it has become an accident, to model the consequences before making a decision and to invest before the cost of inaction becomes higher than the cost of the solution”, concluded the Deputy Minister.
