All steps in the cadastral policy, led by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and the Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Agency, in combination with the introduction of the European directive “Inspire” are for the benefit of citizens and will stimulate business development not only in Bulgaria but also globally.

This was said by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Eng. Valentin Yovev. He participated in the General Assembly of the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors, hosted by our country.

Before the participants in the forum, engineer Yovev emphasised the need for cartographic data and GIS technologies, which contribute to solving a number of issues in the fields of ecology and economy, early warning and disaster management.

“In its capacity of a National Coordinating Body and National Contact Point with the European Commission, the Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Agency is working on the transposition of the European Inspire Directive in Bulgaria,” the Deputy Minister explained to the Assembly delegates. He stressed that achieving interoperability and harmonisation of spatial data sets and related services and the construction and maintenance of network services will ensure a smooth and unrestricted exchange of spatial data and services between public authorities.

“The strategic goal is for the national spatial information infrastructure to serve not only to ensure policies and activities that may have an impact on the environment, but also to meet the full range of geospatial data needs of both state and local authorities and of citizens and businesses in Bulgaria,” Yovev explained.

He was adamant that in the current conditions of rapidly evolving high technologies and the need for digitalised synchronised databases, a new horizon is needed for cadastre 2030.
