“I cannot conceal my satisfaction over the fact that a Bulgaria company has once again won the tender for construction under the Stabilisation of a Landslide at Slunchev Den and Road I-9 Varna-Zlatni Piasatci project at the resorts Sveti Konstantin i Elena and Slunchev Den,” Regional Development and Public Works Minister Valentin Tserovski said at the signing of the contracts for construction work and supervision. The construction contract was signed by Krassimir Popov, representative of the Gazstroymontazh – Geosonda consortium, and the supervision contract by Yulian Tyufekchiev, representative of Mott MacDonald for Bulgaria. The construction contract is worth3.803 million euros and the supervision contract 209,000 euros. The consolidation of the landslide at Slunchev Den and of the I-9 road Varna-Zlatni Piasatci at the Sveti Konstantin i Elena and Slunchev Den resorts is part of the Riverbank and Coastline Landslide Stabilization Project, financed by the European Investment Bank and the Council of Europe Development Bank. The present team of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works running the project has made remarkable progress, said Marcus Traxler, lending expert at the EIB. The EIB and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works are currently holding negotiations for extending the credit agreement to mid-2006 and for including three more schemes for landslide consolidation north of Varna. This would bring the number of projects financed under the programme, including those co-financed from the state budget, to sixteen. They are worth a total of approximately 60 million euro. The experience gained in consolidation work at the Kabakoum landslide, which was the first scheme financed under the Bulgaria: Riverbank and Coastline Landslide Stabilisation Project, helped us win the tender, Gazstroymontazh CEO Krassimir Popov said.
