INTERREG VІ-А IPA Bulgaria-Serbia 2021-2027 - Objectives

The INTERREG VI-A IPA Bulgaria-Serbia 2021-2027 programme was created to respond to the needs and challenges of the cross-border region identified by the Territorial Analysis and in accordance with key policies of the European Union such as green and digital transition, Territorial Agenda 2030, EU enlargement with the Western Balkans.

The general objective of the programme is to strengthen the territorial cohesion of the Bulgaria-Serbia cross-border region, which is necessary for the development of the cross-border region and the reduction of inequalities between the better places and those with less prosperous prospects or lagging behind.

The programme strategy includes integrated measures for territorial development in support of enterprises - direct support of SMEs for technological modernization through production investments to increase productivity and indirect, business support for acquiring new knowledge and skills, including access to external financing, as well as support of joint actions to prevent the risk of natural and man-made hazards through the implementation of a strategic project with three main directions of action - inter-institutional coordination for risk prevention and rapid response management, harmonization of procedures and approaches, and preparation of citizens.
