State and municipal public buildings as well as business sites have been renovated with nearly EUR 346 million

Over 560 non-residential buildings in the country have been renovated by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works with funding from the Recovery and Sustainability Plan. The investment amounts to nearly EUR 346 million under the procedures "Support for sustainable energy renovation of a public building stock for administrative services, culture and sport" and "Support for energy renovation of buildings in the field of production, trade and services". The total renovated area is more than 1,770,000 square meters, which is equivalent to the area of 248 football fields. Just over 1 million square meters is the renovated business infrastructure.

340 state and municipal buildings for administrative services, buildings for public services in the field of culture and art, structures of the Ministry of Interior, regional services "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" and sports halls have been renovated. Nearly 37% of them are cultural sites – community centers, museums, concert halls, theaters, galleries. Most of them have not been updated in the last few decades. The performance and energy efficiency of over 230 private buildings of the business – enterprises, warehouses, retail outlets, service centers and hotels – have been improved.

As a result of the investments made under both procedures, the annual primary energy consumption of buildings will be reduced by approximately 366 million kWh, or at least 30% primary energy savings for each of the sites. More than 78,000 tonnes of CO2 per year will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to the annual emissions of just over 54,000 new cars. Renovated buildings completely change the appearance and environment in and around public buildings and real economy sites.

Energy renovation leads to reduced energy consumption costs as well as lower operating costs, a cleaner environment and helps public institutions to use their funds more efficiently.

In addition to complete renovation of buildings, repairs include thermal insulation, roof waterproofing, replacement of joinery, construction of energy-efficient systems and internal modernization. The facilities are adapted for people with disabilities. The bathrooms have been renovated and the external environment around the sites has also been improved. The implementation of all energy-efficient measures not only improves the conditions and appearance of the cultural infrastructure, but also restores its great importance for the preservation of local identity and spirituality.
