Opportunities for investments in transport infrastructure projects in Bulgaria were discussed by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Eng. Valentin Yovev with Portuguese financial investors.

The meeting, which took place in the building of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works today, was attended by Eng. Nikolay Stankov, Adviser in the Political Cabinet of the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and representatives of the Road Infrastructure Agency.

Road infrastructure sites were presented, which could be implemented in the form of public-private partnership: the completion of the Hemus motorway; the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo highway; the tunnel under Shipka Peak; the Vidin - Botevgrad highway; the Black Sea highway; the tunnel under Petrohan.

“These sections of the national road network are part of several international transport corridors, which are of strategic importance for the country and have heavy traffic, which ensures a good return on investment,” said during the meeting Deputy Minister Yovev. According to him, the strategic location of Bulgaria - in the center of Southeast Europe and at the crossroads between Europe, the Middle East and Asia, is another advantage of our country to attract foreign investors. 5 out of 10 pan-European transport corridors pass through Bulgaria, it was clarified during the conversation.

The Portuguese guests were also informed about some economic factors that have a positive impact on investment interest in our country, namely the low corporate tax rate and income tax, which are 10% each, the fastest growing gross domestic product in recent years, political stability.

The policy of the government, including the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, in the field of road infrastructure is sustainable and will continue to develop in the future, said Deputy Minister Yovev.
