The size of the municipality investments for 2004 has reached its highest level for the last years and amounts to 269 mln. lv. The growing size of the municipality investments marks a significant improvement but is much below the level necessary for compensation of the hitherto insufficient investments for maintaining the municipality infrastructure at a stable level. This noted in his report in front of the Forum for local government the Deputy Minister of the Regional Development and Public Works Dimcho Mihalevsky. He put an accent on the conclusions of the reform in the financial decentralization of the municipalities and drew out the opportunities for ensuring adequate levels of financing of all municipalities. Deputy Minister Mihalevsky read a report on “Financing of the Municipal Structure” on the Forum for local government organised by the program “Local Government Initiative” of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The participants in the Initiative “The financial decentralization – further steps” were greeted during the opening by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Asen Gagauzov.
