The Implementation of the Small Projects of the Bulgaria – Romania Joint Fund Is Over

The implementation of the nine projects for Cross-border cooperation (CBC) between Bulgaria and Romania is accomplished. The total amount of the contracts is over EUR 502 000 of which EUR 443 000 have been ensured by the European Union through the Joint Small Projects Fund under Phare CBC Program, Financing Memorandum 2002. The contracts for grant financing were signed a year ago with non-governmental organizations and local authorities from the border areas with Romania. The projects have been carried out on the territories of Vidin, Montana, Ruse and Vratsa municipalities. The priorities of the initiatives are in the area of economic development, environment, tourism, cultural exchange, local democracy, researches in the area of planning and development. On the meeting were present the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Dimcho Mihalevsky, the Head of “Phare and ISPA” Department in the European Commission Delegation to Bulgaria Mr. Ruud van Enck, representatives of the executive and local authorities. By the end of November 2005 is expected the signature of the contracts on Financing Memorandum 2003. A total of 95 project offers have been submitted in the due term.
