Bulgaria and Morocco ready to develop cooperation in the field of urban and housing policy

Bulgaria and Morocco are ready to develop their cooperation in the field of urban and housing policy. That is what the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Denitsa Nikolova, and the Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, Housing and Urban Policy, Nouzha Bouchareb, agreed. They held a meeting within the framework of the Tenth World Urban Forum UN-Habitat.

Deputy Minister Nikolova and Minister Bouchareb also discussed issues such as the possibility of introducing new technologies and standards in the construction sector, as well as the possibility of exchanging experience and expertise between the ministries.

There is a readiness to conclude a memorandum of cooperation, which will start a real practical interaction between the experts from the departments. The signing of an agreement between the two ministries will be a step towards establishing a lasting partnership and strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Minister Bouchareb invited the Bulgarian side to visit Morocco to get acquainted with good practices and opportunities for cooperation. Deputy Minister Nikolova also invited her to visit Bulgaria.

Earlier today, Denitsa Nikolova also met with Kire Ilioski, Director of the Executive Secretary Office of the UN Economic Commission for Europe. They discussed the potential for expanding cooperation in the context of the implementation of the European Green Pact, incl. the Just Transition Fund.

The need to step up efforts to implement measures in the circular economy was addressed. The possibility for active participation of Bulgarian cities in the upcoming Forum of Mayors, which will take place in the autumn in Geneva, was also discussed.
