“Danube” 2014-2020 transnational cooperation programme - Objectives
The strategy of the Programme is to contribute to the implementation of the “Europe 2020” Strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and the achievement of economic, social and territorial cohesion in the Danube region through the integration of policies in certain areas. The focus of the new Programme is aimed at increasing innovation and entrepreneurship, protection of natural and cultural heritage and resources in the Danube region, improving the connectivity and support for the transition to a low carbon economy. In addition, the Programme seeks to support and promote the realisation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
Coordination with the Danube Strategy is implemented through:
- establishing a mechanism for mutual exchange of information and joint planning in common priority areas of cooperation;
- creating conditions to promote cooperation between the partners on the Programme and stakeholders in the Danube strategy in order to identify activities of mutual interest in implementing the objectives and create favourable conditions to upgrade partnerships between participating countries;
- creation of a specific section in the monitoring system of the Programme in which information is made available (from Programme evaluations and reports), showing how the Programme contributes to achieving the objectives of the Danube Strategy.
