INTERREG-IPA CBC Bulgaria – the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Programme 2014-2020 - Objectives

INTERREG-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Bulgaria – the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia 2014-2020 is in line with the European cohesion policy for more result oriented approach through thematic concentration of resources.

Selected thematic priorities include activities of common interest of the institutions and organisations from both sides of the border which are for the benefit of the population of the border region, including young people and vulnerable groups.

As most relevant are defined priorities related to combating climate change and risk management, environmental protection, tourism development (including natural and cultural heritage) and support the competitiveness of SMEs.

In that respect the overall objective of the Programme is defined as “strengthening cross-border cooperation between people and institutions in the region to jointly solve common problems and utilisation of untapped potential.”

The Programme is addressing young people, as well as cross-cutting issues concerning equality between men and women, non-discrimination and promotion of equal opportunities.

The following thematic priorities: (b) Encouraging tourism and cultural and natural heritage and (g) Improving competitiveness, business environment and development of small and medium-sized enterprises, trade and investment are selected for the achievement of the overall Programme objective.
