Danube Region Programme 2021-2027 - Objectives

The main mission of the Danube Region programme 2021-2027 is to improve the institutional platform and create a sustainable environment for transnational cooperation with the aim of territorial, economic and social integration, in accordance with the new EU cohesion policy for the period 2021-2027.

In this very heterogeneous and diverse region, special attention should be paid to common challenges to ensure that the different needs of countries (given their different political and economic status) are addressed in a balanced and well-integrated way.

The programme promotes the sharing of responsibility for challenges and problems and the implementation of common solutions, thereby bringing the participating regions closer together.

All the challenges identified by the territorial analysis of the programme are in line with the action plan of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR). Accordingly, the priorities of the programme, namely: Innovations, Connectivity; Environment and Good Governance, coincide with those of the Danube Strategy.
